One of My Simple Pleasures: Quick Sticky Buns

The great thing about simple pleasures…

is that they’re, well, simple, of course!  While the all-time simple pleasure that tops my list is a freshly brewed cup of coffee accompanied by a crossword puzzle or a good book, another really simple pleasure I enjoy comes from the November 2007 issue of Real Simple magazine: a quick and easy recipe for sticky buns.  To me, these tasty little treasures are a warm and sweet invitation to roll out of bed in the morning, or a delightful dessert to complement my grande cup of French roast.  And it’s so easy; there’s no yeast needed, no time needed for dough to rise.  In fact, you use store-bought refrigerated biscuit dough.  How simple is that?

Feel free to substitute walnuts for pecans – both work well – and adjust the amount of sugar to your liking (I tend to go a little heavier than what’s called for).  Also, I like to add cinnamon to my brown sugar, which adds a sweet spiciness.  And the best part of this recipe is the sliced banana.  If you don’t have bananas on hand, that’s okay, but I really recommend you try it.  Mmmmm…your kitchen will smell heavenly, like it’s your own little café.  (Although you’ll probably need no convincing) the best way to enjoy these sticky buns is while they are warm!
